The Code and Standards course satisfies the required 2 hours of Ethics CE. CFP Board professionals are required to complete 30 continuing education (CE) credits every two years to maintain their CFP® certification. This course is taught by CFP® professional instructors who actively work in the industry. Participants will receive a printable certificate, and CE credits will be submitted on their behalf to the CFP Board.
The content is aligned with the CFP Board’s updated Code and Standards and reflects the latest policies and tax laws. The goal of this program is to position the application of the CFP Board’s Code and Standards as the foundation for ethical financial planning.
At the end of this program, participants should be able to:
- Understand the structure and content of the revised Code and Standards, including significant changes from prior rules
- Describe the CFP Board’s Fiduciary Duty
- Identify material conflicts of interest and how to avoid them, or fully disclose them, obtain informed consent, and manage them
- Understand the duty to report to the CFP Board and the duty to cooperate
- Identify the practice standards when providing financial advice that requires financial planning or when providing financial planning
- Understand the duty to provide information to clients when delivering financial planning and/or financial advice
